You have a book inside you
Go from the book in your heart to your book on the page
Your Book in a Year is 12-month 1:1 coaching partnership that brings the book inside you to life.
You've got a book inside you.
But "inside you" is the problem, isn't it?
You know what this book is supposed to say. You've keep stacking and sorting notes about the topic, because you can't stop thinking about it. You can feel the need to get it out—the insights you've earned, the story that needs telling, the transformation you've witnessed in people who applied your ideas. Their change is proof the concepts work, and now you want to reach even more people than you can one at a time over coffee.
A book does that. A book reaches thousands who need what you know but will never sit across the table from you. A book captures your concepts in a way that's easily consumed and shared. When the book is shared, word spreads, and lives change.
But the book has to exist to be shared. You've wanted to write it for months, maybe years. This book isn't sitting on your to-do list as a nice-to-have. It's sitting on your soul. You think about it at 2 a.m. when you stare at the ceiling and picture it in print. You see other people's books and feel a pang. You know—bone-deep—you're capable of this, and not doing it feels like a betrayal of yourself, of your future readers.
Instead of that vision motivating to sit down and pour the book onto the screen, you arrive at the keyboard and something stalls. You stare at the document for ten minutes. You close it. You tell yourself you'll try again tomorrow. And you've been saying that for two months, two years...or ten.
So it stays inside. Unwritten. Unfinished. Unpublished.
Maybe you're under contract and the deadline is real—which means the pressure is real too. Or maybe you're self-publishing, which means the weight is entirely on you: to figure out what the book actually is, to structure it so readers stay with you, to write it well enough that people listen. Either way, you're staring at this enormous gap between "I have something to say" and "I have a finished manuscript."
And you're doing it alone.
That's exhausting. That's paralyzing. That's why so many books never happen.
Your Book in a Year is a personalized 1:1 coaching program for writers ready to move from blank page to finished manuscript in twelve months—whether you're self-publishing or writing on contract.

The first thing I tell beginning writers, hire a writing coach. Specifically, hire Ann!
"The first thing I tell beginning writers, hire a writing coach. Specifically, hire Ann! Next to my family, Ann has been my biggest cheerleader, encourager, and supporter. She enthusiastically champions my work and reminds me of my 'why' when I forget. She not only says my words matter and they have a place in the world, she whole-heartedly believes it. Ann has been the single best investment in my writing journey."

Work 1:1 with Ann to finish that book on your heart
Stop staring at a blank page.
After years of coaching writers, I've learned that writers need support. They need a sounding board. They need creative nudges to stay on track. They need a cheerleader to lift them up. And they need a plan to get them to "The End."
I've also learned that books don't just need to be written. They need to connect, speaking to readers' needs, promising them a transformation, and delivering on that promise page after page. That takes creativity and craft. And it takes someone who can read every word you write and tell you when it's landing and when it's not.
That's why I created Your Book in a Year.
You don’t have to toil away at the keyboard alone. While writing is a solitary act, starting and finishing a book shouldn't be.
This program gives you a year of personalized private coaching—chapter by chapter, phase by phase—with a full reference library of craft training to support you exactly where you are.
Together, we'll dial in what your readers actually need from your book. We'll build a Table of Contents that reflects their journey. And then you'll write it—with my eyes on every word.
You won't be staring at a blank page, because you'll know exactly what each chapter is meant to accomplish. You'll learn new skills and refine your writing voice. When you get stuck (and you will), you'll have a sounding board who understands you, your readers, and this particular project.
By month twelve, doing the work and staying on pace, you'll have a finished manuscript draft. Not someday. Next year.
Your Book in a Year takes you from blank page to finished manuscript draft. Here's how.

Phase 1: Define
Before diving in, we get clear on three things: who you're actually writing for, what transformation they'll experience, and the core idea that holds everything together. Using my signature Power Pitch framework, we lock in the core of your book—the thing that makes it yours.

Phase 2: Develop
With the core of your book in place, we build your complete Table of Contents and map each chapter so when you sit down to write, you're not staring at a blank page—you're executing a plan. The content supports your core concept, each chapter with its own purpose. You'll know how each chapter connects to the next, and why it matters.

Phase 3: Draft
This is where the real work happens—and where you're not alone. Chapter by chapter, you write. And chapter by chapter, I read every word. On our regular coaching calls, we talk about what's landing, what needs reshaping, where your voice is strongest. I'm not waiting until you've finished to give feedback; I'm with you the whole way, keeping up your momentum and making sure you stay true to the promise you made in Phase 1.

Phase 4: Deliver
Your manuscript is written. Now we polish it. We refine the prose, tighten the structure, format it professionally. Whether you're heading to a publisher, an agent, or straight to self-publishing, your book leaves our hands ready. Finished. Professional. Yours.
Your Book in a Year is coaching that includes craft training, personalized feedback on every chapter, and the accountability to actually finish.
In a year or less, your manuscript draft will be ready to reach readers waiting for the transformation you have to offer
Writing a book is one of the biggest undertakings you'll ever attempt. You don't have to carry it alone anymore. With Your Book in a Year you'll finally finish what's been sitting on your soul. It'll be ready. Ready to say what you've always needed to say to the thousands of people waiting for your voice.

"I don't have enough time to write a book"
You're right. You don't have extra time lying around. Nobody does. The question isn't whether you can magically find 40 hours a week—you can't. The question is whether this book matters enough to you to make time for it. I'll bet it does. Your Book in a Year works because it's built for real life. You're not committing to daily writing marathons or quitting your job. You're committing to showing up consistently—even if that's just an hour or two a week—with someone who keeps you accountable and moving forward. I also host twice-weekly co-writing sessions where writers gather to work alongside each other, and these are a bonus built into Your Book in a Year. Members love the built-in discipline and the knowledge they aren't alone in the scramble. You'll finish your book not because you found more time. You'll finish because you stopped waiting for the perfect conditions and started anyway.

"I'm not a good enough writer to write a book"
That voice in your head that's haunting and taunting you? It's a lie. And most writers feel this way before they finish their first book. The difference between people who publish and people who don't isn't raw talent—it's having someone who believes in the work and knows how to shape it while training you. That's Your Book in a Year. You'll get real-time training in craft and structure, plus consistent feedback on every chapter so you can see where your voice is strongest and where it needs work. By the time you finish, you won't just have a manuscript. You'll have evidence that you can write—because you will have written.

Working with Ann is a true joy, and any writer would be lucky to have her in their corner.
"Not only does her writing and publishing expertise run deep, but she is profoundly adept at understanding the needs of her writers and meeting them where they are. To me, that is the mark of a great coach. Some days, I needed her thought partnership and brilliant ideas; on others, I just needed cheerleading and, occasionally, even some tough love (which was always delivered with her signature warmth, of course!). YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED:

I want to ensure that every writer who joins Your Book in a Year is set up for maximum success and the application gives us both vital information. Please know I can't wait to read your application and hear about your writing project. Applying helps me learn more about you and your project (it might even help you start to articulate your idea!). After I review your submission (usually within 2 business days) I'll look at my openings and email you. If the application and availability align, I'll invite you to join me on a Zoom call so we can discuss aspects of the program and ensure you see clearly how I'll help you develop your proposal to be pitch ready. We'll determine your next steps so you can step forward with confidence on your publishing journey. If it's a good fit, I'll invite you to join!
I've set up the program as a year-long package with flexibility to allow for the unexpected. I recommend a pace to keep you on track, but you can move faster during some seasons when you have more time. All coaching sessions will be recorded and the supporting craft content is prerecorded for you to move through at a steady pace. Writing an entire book through the practice of writing will take time and commitment, but I believe you can do it in 12 months.
If you have reliable internet access, you can access everything from a browser. Here's what we'll use to stay connected throughout the year:
- Heartbeat.chat (an online learning platform) for recorded content (use in the browser or as mobile app)
- Zoom for coaching sessions
- Loom for replays (you don't need to download it; it's simply what I use to host video content)
- Google Docs as needed to share documents and comment on each other's work
- Email for reminders
- Optional: The DMs in Heartbeat.chat to leave me audio or text messages 24/7 so I can get you quick answers without always needing to schedule a coaching call
The WriteTrackers community and co-writing sessions are a bonus for you. Join as you are able to build the habit of writing. But don't worry; you're not competing for my attention with the other members of WriteTrackers; this is your dedicated year. The core of the program is our 1:1 work and your chapter drafts.

That would be a wonderful problem to have—and it does happen. Your coaching doesn't end just because the draft does. If you finish early, we'll use the remaining time to deepen and polish the manuscript, work on your author bio and supporting content, or start thinking about next steps, whether that's querying, self-publishing prep, or simply celebrating what you've accomplished. The full twelve months are yours.
Absolutely. We start at the very beginning: mapping your chapters, refining your hook, and narrowing your ideal reader. We don't just write; we build a blueprint for a book that actually connects with an audience.
Before you even write a word, my job is to be your sounding board to think through the content. Then I'm your first reader, reviewing every chapter and the book as a while. You'll submit chapter drafts, and I'll review them to ensure you are maintaining the arc, tone, and connection to your reader. You’ll never have to wonder if your writing is "working" or not.

A contract is a deadline, not an approximation. You must hit your deadline. In Your Book in a Year, I act as your sounding board and high-level editor, ensuring you don't just hit your deadline, but that you deliver a manuscript you're proud of. We troubleshoot the structural issues early, then I provide detailed input and nudge you stay on pace so the draft you turn in is high-quality and ready for final edits. I can't show up at your house and stand over your shoulder to be sure you're at the keyboard, typing, but I'll do all I can to cheer you on and provide specific input through the virtual tools we have. Your deadlines with me will set you up to complete the draft in time for your publisher's deadline.
Yes, Your Book in a Year is designed for authors of nonfiction. If you write fiction, I can point you to colleagues who coach novelists. And if you write memoir, this program could work well. Fill out the application and we'll talk about the best approach.
Due to the high-touch nature of this coaching, which includes input on your written content, strategizing on Zoom calls, and brainstorming alongside you as you build out your project, you'll gain incredible insight and growth from the start. As a result, all purchases are final. I'm not able to offer refunds for unforeseen circumstances, such as scheduling conflicts or changing your mind. Please make sure you confirm your availability before committing. And be assured that with the 12-month container for this program, you'll find plenty of flexibility to complete your project even if life throws you a curve ball. We'll both be living life around the work, so we'll take vacations and still write that book.
