Book Ann Kroeker on your Show

Ann Kroeker is a writing coach, author, speaker, and host of "Ann Kroeker, Writing Coach," which has landed on The Write Life's annual “100 Best Websites for Writers” list every year since 2016. She's produced over 230 episodes touching on a range of challenges and questions writers face at various points in the creative process.

Ann has been a popular presenter both in person and virtually for:

  • podcasts
  • summits
  • retreats
  • writing workshops
  • writing conferences

Combining curiosity, creativity, and productivity, Ann empowers her audiences to communicate with greater confidence and clarity. She’s inspired hundreds of writers to level up and achieve their goals—she's worked with people establishing their online presence with a blog or freelance business and coached several award-winning authors who hit bestseller lists.

Now she's ready to serve your audience.

Possible Topics

Known for bringing her coaching heart to the mic, Ann delivers topics that encourage, inspire, and empower with practical action steps. These topics may inspire ideas for your show, but your interview style can drive the conversation. In fact, it could be marketed as a conversation with a coach.

⫸ Reframe Author Platform: Your Meaningful Interaction Reaches Readers Now

From the day an author signs a book contract to its release day is, on average, two years. That’s a long time to wait before reaching readers with a message or story. But we have publishing and distribution tools at our fingertips and can reach readers right here and now in multiple creative ways—no waiting on someone else to green light your words. You decide what to share. When we reframe an “author platform” to realize the potential of reaching people, it’s no longer an obligation—it’s an opportunity!

⫸ Filling the Gap: The Input You Need from the Person You Need, Right When You Need It

Relationships ranging from coaches and mentors to writing groups and online communities (even simply listening to podcasts!) can fill the gap at various phases of the writing life. We can discuss the benefit of engaging with key relationships at critical stages—people equipped to supply you with everything from editorial input and evaluation to emotional support. Whether you’re launching your freelance career, developing a book proposal, searching for an agent and publisher, or slogging through those lonely months of working on the manuscript, you don’t have to be alone anymore.

⫸ Why You Need a Book Proposal If You Want to Write a Nonfiction Book

We can discuss the three things writers must make compelling and clear in their proposals to capture the attention of agents and publishers. We could cover best practices for crafting a proposal and a few tips for clarifying your book’s concept to develop the best project possible.

⫸ On Being a Writer: Developing Habits for a Writing Life That Lasts

Pulling from On Being a Writer, a book I co-authored with Charity Singleton Craig, we could chat about one or more of the 12 habits that form a sustainable writing life. The chapters may inspire a wide-ranging conversation or you may decide you want to focus on a single habit from the list:

  • Identify (I am a writer)
  • Arrange (I organize my life—my time, my space, my priorities—so I can write)
  • Surround (I surround myself with people, locations, activities, books that will influence my writing)
  • Notice (I attend to and record what’s going on around me)
  • Write (I sit down and put words to paper)
  • Send (I want to publish what I write)
  • Promote (I want other people to know I am a writer)
  • Discover (When I write, I find myself)
  • Engage (I interact with writers, artists, and others who support my writing)
  • Plan (I am intentional about next steps)
  • Rest (Sometimes, I stop for a while and do other things)

Write Your Way: There’s no one way to create, so find your way and get to work

Some approaches to writing and polishing our drafts are more efficient than others, but we need to determine our purpose, goals, and personalities to land on what works for us. With experimentation and an open mind, we can write our way.
