As a writing coach, published author, and professional speaker, I energize writers to move confidently toward their goals as they find and develop their voice.
My coaching serves men and women in all areas of their writing lives—from defining their identity and developing stronger skills to determining project goals and taking next steps in building a platform. Creativity, productivity, lifelong learning, and curiosity all play a part in the process, and I personalize ideas to nurture and integrate all of this into my clients' daily life and work.
My clients include award-winning authors who hit bestseller lists and others who achieved specific goals such as submitting to literary magazines, landing a spot in a prestigious MFA program, leveling up their professional writing skills, and expanding their reach to impact more readers. I continue to offer ongoing free content and training here on this website, which has landed on The Write Life’s annual “100 Best Websites for Writers” list five years in a row.
Coaching flowed naturally from the editing work I provided as a member of the editorial teams of two large online organizations, and from my freelance editing for individuals and publishing houses.
Not only have I supported countless authors—I'm an author myself. I coauthored On Being a Writer: 12 Simple Habits for a Writing Life that Lasts, and authored Not So Fast: Slow-Down Solutions for Frenzied Families (David C. Cook) and The Contemplative Mom: Restoring Rich Relationship with God in the Midst of Motherhood. My articles have been featured in a variety of publications including The Indianapolis Star newspaper, and magazines such as ByFaith, The Student, Christian Home and School, and Indianapolis Woman. A contributor to several books, I’m honored to have been included in the award-winning Experiencing the Passion of Jesus, by Lee Strobel and Garry Poole.
My Belgian-born husband and I have four adult children who are busy pursuing their own creative lives. Whether at work or play, I live a life full of wonder and curiosity. I also drink a lot of tea.

A writing coach armed with a strong editorial background and relatable personality, I can help you make significant progress toward your writing goals.
Right here on the website, you can read articles published over the course of years—abundant material can keep you motivated without spending a dime. Much of the material is available on the podcast “Ann Kroeker, Writing Coach” (easily found with a search in your podcast player of choice), so if you like to learn on the go, subscribe and listen to get coaching delivered through your earbuds.
Whether you work with me one-on-one, through group coaching, via a course, by reading published articles, or while listening to the podcast, you’ll get the inspiration, input, ideas and guidance you’ve been struggling to find as I accompany you on this otherwise solitary writing journey.
I’ve also been a freelance writer for over 25 years, so I know what you’re going through. I’ll tap into all of that in all the content I create and advice I offer. Plus, my curiosity-driven life and problem-solving personality help me see both the big picture and the tiny details.
One-on-one clients have me on the other end of the line, accessing my editorial background and relatable personality. But those slots are limited due to time constraints, so be sure to explore the other options here on the website first. The advantage 1:1 clients have is that I can offer specific feedback that can take your work to the next level.
Have fun exploring what’s here at your fingertips. And if you wonder what one-on-one coaching can look like, check my Work With Me page to see if am open to new clients and to learn how working with a coach can fill the gaps in your writing life.
