Last year I visited the Indianapolis Museum of Art where “Angel of the Resurrection,” a Tiffany stained glass window, hangs as part of its permanent collection. Captivated, I snapped several pictures, including closeups of the inscription.
Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
(Ephesians 5:14, KJV).
I would love to see this.
I would love to take you to see it. Whenever you pass through Indianapolis, we have a date.
Our church in Chicago always displayed art on Good Friday in the sanctuary. So much of the sacred art was removed in the 70’s. I am deeply moved by this piece, thank you for sharing Ann. Magnificent photos.
So the ’70s era didn’t want to see as much of that art?
I loved the words of this piece most when I first laid eyes on it, but now I’m stirred by the angel.
This lovely glass window with the beautiful angel is inspiring even from this view. Awake all the sleepy heads and get busy serving the Lord.
Yes, while we are still alive on this earth, we can awake to work for the Kingdom, and those who “fall asleep in the Lord” have only to come awake in His presence.
The Holy Spirit used this window to save me in 2011.
