Food on Fridays: Safekeeping

fof

(smaller button below)

For the Food on Fridays carnival, any post remotely related to food is welcome—though we love to try new dishes, your post doesn’t have to be a recipe. We’re pretty relaxed over here, and stories and photos are as welcome as menus and recipes. When your Food on Fridays contribution is ready, just grab the broccoli button to paste at the top of your post. It ties us together visually. Then fill in the boxes of this linky tool to join the fun!

Food on Fridays with Ann

One Christmas, my mom gave me a set of glass dessert dishes. She said her mom, my beloved Grandma, bought them in Chicago.Grandma thought they would look pretty filled with strawberries.Afraid I would break such delicate glassware, I left the bowls wrapped in tissue paper and tucked them in the back of a storage shelf for safekeeping.I came across them when I had to rearrange the kitchen and realized that if I left them on the shelf,we would never see them filled with berries.

Your dishes are beautiful and are so lovely filled with berries! I am glad you placed them on your shelf for use! They need to be enjoyed!

Aren’t they pretty, with the elegant wave and delicate feet? They are a little tippy, so the kids have learned to be careful when putting a spoon in to dip out the berries–don’t press hard against the side!

What a beautiful post, Ann! Your Grandma’s dishes are so pretty – she would be so pleased to know you are using them! I am often guilty of keeping things ‘safe’ but I try more and more to get them out and actually use them. It always makes me feel happy when I do. Thank you for hosting Food on Fridays.

My grandma appreciated beauty, even though life was pretty simple.

Love, love, love the dainty dishes! I think I’ll peer into my collection and dust off something pretty for supper. Thanks for the inspiration!

Dainty. The perfect adjective for these precious pieces. Have a lovely weekend with some sweet desserts in dainty dishes! 🙂

Sorry about that! I’m in the process of redesigning and creating a grab box. In the meantime, can you right click on the photo and “copy”? Then go to your blog and “paste” directly in there?

Don’t worry if you can’t. I’ll come up with a better system soon!
