“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”(John 13:34 NIV ©1984)
This “motto,” as my dad calls it, belonged to his mother and currently hangs on the wall of my parents’ breakfast room.
I never knew this grandmother, so I don’t know what it meant to her; but, through this framed message, she preserved powerful words to live by, straight from the mouth of the Savior.

What a lovely treasure passed on to future generations. In days to come, this will be an antique but valued for its message!
These are the kind of treasures that people call “junk” at garage sales. My parents have a few of these hanging around that warm my heart. This simple message tells you a lot about someone.
I love that you carry this piece of your heritage. That’s pretty awesome. I found me a hammock over the weekend and slowed down a little. Thought of you. Smiles and hugs.
So, you may not have actually KNOWN this grandmother, but you certainly carry her trait for love.
It is a priceless legacy Ann.
I love how God’s word shows up throughout our lives, our culture. Its essence is at the heart of us.
Here’s a funny story about that: when I was in China, there was a shirt that had “Don’t hide your light under a bushel” on the packaging. It was probably some horrible English translation, but I cracked up to see God’s word there, in the advertising in a communist country.
