Slightly jealous, here. I tried a teeny-tiny garden, and while I’ve harvested some basil and one zucchini, the rabbits ate my pepper plant down to nothing, and gobbled up every last tomato…before they even had a chance to ripen. Bunnies are cute, but not conducive to my gardening.
You all are so encouraging to this beginning gardener–your comments are almost enough to motivate me to pull on some boots and jeans to weed that jungle this afternoon!
I lost some pepper plants to the bunnies, too, Katrina. I think our gigantic family dog has leaped into the garden to chase away some culprits. I suspected this when I found my corn plants toppled over as if a small tornado had spun through the plot.
Denise: The kids really like cucumbers, so I was hoping they would produce this year. Last year, I planted some and pfft. They did nothing. This year, I planted them in a different spot and that’s about all I changed, and they are growing like gangbusters. I haven’t figured out what I did to improve the situation other than location. I guess I’ll repeat next year. And I did use a little bit of Miracle Gro, but not often enough to think that it made that big of a difference. And I watered now and then, but not as often as I should have. So. Shrug. I dunno. It’s a good year for cucumbers, that’s all I can say!

I love the basil! I can almost smell it. I ahve that and some delicious Lemon Basil in the backyard.
But I have to tell you that I am totally Green with Envy over those incredible cucumbers! What did you do to get them so scumptious looking?
Thanks for sharing such a great bounty!
