Family devotionals can be as simple or involved as you’d like. If you’re just starting out, I suggest keeping it simple and focus on committing to the habit of a family time together that’s focused on the Lord. The way you go about can be an ongoing experiment and can purposefully change as you come across a new resource; or, you may fall into a pattern that works for life.
Don’t fret too much about having the perfect set-up, and don’t worry if the first few times feel like they’re falling flat. Eventually, it’ll simply be a part of your family’s daily and/or weekly pattern.
Here are some ideas:
- Douglas Dahl was convinced he needed to commit to leading family devotions. He shares what’s been working HERE.
- Family Devotional Ideas from a homeschooling dad.
- John Piper’s suggestions
- Family Night by the Book, a family devotional done for you and delivered to your e-mail inbox, so you can get started right away with some meaningful fun.
- The Josh McDowell Ministry has a devotionals for families and another for youth.
- Several simple, hands-on family devotional ideas at this link (the application and discussion are not spelled out) and another set here.
- More coming soon
