Monday FunDay–Vintage Comedy Clips (wk 6)

If you actually enjoy feeling a little “down” on Mondays, I suppose all my talk of fun will just annoy you. When I was little, my brother hated it when I came skipping downstairs to breakfast all chipper and pleasant. He called me Pollyanna in an insulting tone and set the cereal box between us so that he could slurp up his cereal in peace. Now that I’m not much of a morning person myself, I respect his need to be left alone. And recalling those interactions reminded me that some people really like to complain about Mondays and feel all gloomy and dreary.

Please don’t let Monday FunDay posts spoil your rainy days and Mondays.

For my friends and readers who actually enjoy the melancholy…this is for you (Monday FunDay fans, however, should not watch this):

For the rest of us who could use a little fun to climb out of the Monday Quagmire, read on, because it is:

Monday FunDay

Monday FunDay is a carnival dedicated to swapping simple, amusing–maybe even silly–everyday ways you enjoy good, clean fun.

Just post a story, idea, or explanation at your blog of how you and/or your family has livened up Mondays (or any day).

Then link up via Mr. Linky below (if you don’t have a blog, simply explain your idea in the comments) and we’ll collect all the ideas in one place. Again, please remember: ideas must be squeaky-clean, family-friendly fun.

Today, if you have time, enjoy a few minutes of fun watching a famous snippet from “I Love Lucy.”

Here’s the Vitameatavegamin scene.

And the candy conveyer belt scene:

Or you can watch an entire episode of Andy Griffith at TV Land online.

And then there’s the famous scene from “The Three Amigos” that I keep seeing pop up at various blogs.

One of those should be good for at least a grin, if not a full-fledged giggle.

[UPDATED: My friend Linda sent me the link to this creative Web design from a company apparently in the Netherlands. Definitely worth a visit to add some fun to your day. Just click on the link and it does the rest.]

Here’s Mr. Linky:

Instructions for the WordPress Mr. Linky (which is different than the ones you’ll see on WFMW and other Typepad or Blogspot blogs):

2. Come back to this post and click on Mr. Linky. A window will pop up.

To see what others have posted, click on Mr. Linky and pay a visit to the fun bloggers who have joined in!

It’s fun to have fun, but you have to know how!

I posted to my blog about Monday FunDay, once again influenced by YOUR post.

I am a HUGE, HUGE (did I say HUGE) Karen Carpenter fan, and you just totally made my week by making me realize I might be able to find clips of her on YouTube. I became a fan the year that she died (thanks to my Dad’s records), and I remember being devastated when I told my Dad that I wanted to see her in concert (I was all of about 10), and he had to sadly tell me that she had died recently.

It’s one of life’s greatest injustices, her way-too-early death… oh, and the fact that I never got to see her sing live. Anyway…. off to listen to Karen Carpenter ALL DAY! :-)

    4. Thanks for such a day brightener! It is cold and gloomy here. With three stir crazy boys, homeschooling is not real successful today. We all enjoyed the Lucy clips.

    5. Katie says:

I’m looking forward to more Monday FunDays! :)

    6. Those clips were great! I really like the german website the best though. I was thinking, “Um, I don’t speak German, am I gonna get this?” Then the kids walked in and wondered if I was playing a game! Very cool.

    7. Oh my goodness! I sing “My Little Buttercup” as a lullaby. “The Three Amigos” is the all-time underrated movie. It is hysterical.
