The dear Nattie Rose who passed away this past year (her father maintains her blog) used to mark Fridays by noting gifts and being thankful. “Friday Felicities,” she called them, inspiring and encouraging fellow bloggers–or anyone–to join the fun of noting those people or moments to be thankful for. (She also participated in Thankful Thursdays, because she overflowed with gratitude.)
As I continue enumerating One Thousand Gifts, I thought I would merge it today with Nattie’s Friday Felicities.
Seeing as I haven’t mentioned the glorious gifts with whom I share my home, it’s high time to record them…
15. The Belgian Wonder
16. Girl 1
17. Girl 2
18. Girl 3
19. The Boy
I started writing about each of the children, but found that I don’t have enough time to offer a proper tribute.
You may note the uninspired labels. Long ago I told them I would keep them anonymous on the blog. We intended to generate some kind of creative alternative to their actual names, but never came up with anything that worked; thus, the rather accountant-style enumeration. About the only detail present is their birth order.
Just know this:
They are truly treasures.
I don’t deserve them.
Every day they fill our lives with far more than one thousand gifts.
And I get to share those gifts with The Belgian Wonder, who is truly a wonder, truly wonderful.
It’s an easy day today, I admit. We woke to blue sky, bright sun, big smiles. So far, it’s been fun. We’ve shared silly stories and made each other laugh. We watched leaves tumble into each other as they somersaulted across the back yard.
This life, this family, this laughter, today…it’s all so good.

Beautiful. The best kind of treasures. It sounds like it was a wonderful day to savor it all.
